Approved at the 2002
clinic, and renamed in honor of Charlie Finch, was the
development of the Distinguished Coach Award to honor high school
assistant coaches. The nominee form is located on the MTCCCA
website (or contact Dean Hays and I will fax or mail a copy).
Besides the proper information at the top of the form, the most
important part of the form is the last past on service to the sport.
The Distinguished Coach Award will be presented to Assistant Track and
Field and Cross Country who have served five or more years as an
assistant and made significant verifiable contributions to their sports.
Nomination forms are to be sent to President – Elect
who chairs the selection committee.
School Criteria:
Each school may only nominate two
(2) people per year maximum
(Early we may do more to catch-up)
Individual Nominee Criteria:
The individual must have 5 years
minimum of coaching experience.
The individual must have made
significant verifiable contribution to Track & Field and/or Cross
Country, by Coaching Athletes and/or by Service to the
sport of Track & Field and/or Cross Country.
Coaching Athletes
Personally coached a State Champion or Multiple
District/Sectional Champions and/or Career quality marks of
athletes and/or multiple School/Conference record holders.
Service
Track & Field and/or Cross Country Meet Director, and/or Camp
Coach, and/or service to the MTCCCA, and/or Coached Weight
Lifting, and/or coached Off-Season Work, and/or Volunteer service
to Track & Field and/or Cross Country.
The recipient may not
receive this award more than once in any five (5) year period.
The recipient must be a
member of the MTCCCA and/or nominated by a member of the MTCCCA.
